    Need a filling? Here’s what really goes on.

    That dreaded moment at the dentist where they tell you you’re going to have a filling or two in your mouth. It’s not a great moment for any of us and we try to avoid it as much as possible by looking after our teeth and not eating a load of sugar.

    Firstly, your dentist will remove the decaying part of the tooth. They will then clean the area and fill it with silver amalgam, gold filling or white filling (composite).

    Fillings can only be carried out by professional dentist so do not attempt to try any of this at home.

    The damaged area will need to be closely expected so the correct course of action can be carried out.

    Also dentists have the right tools and knowledge, you don’t!
