Unexpected Ways The Church Can Help You

I see myself as a modern man, I still have my faith bt I am appreciative and respectful of others’ choices in religion, or lack thereof. I have always been a man of God, every since I was christened many, many, many years ago and it has helped me throughout my entire life. From dealing with my early OCD, the separation from my wife and the death of my beloved mother.

You may be religious yourself, or you have friend or colleagues that are, and you may have heard about how great their faith has been for them. And it is. Honestly and truly. But there are some ways that the church can help which you may never even have considered.

You may have noticed that my blog posts have dwindled slightly, don’t worry! I am still here! But something great has happened, something amazing, something that has been taking up a little bit more of my time.

I have written in the past about how hard it is to get back into the dating world when you are a single father, not of a young age, and dealing with the effects of OCD. You may also have heard mention of a very good friend of mine at the church, Mary.

I think you can see where this is going…

It is always difficult to start a new relationship, regardless of age or experience, there is always the nervousness and anticipation that is similar to the feeling you got when you were a teenager and you were so scared of your first date. I am very thankful that my boys have already met Mary an innumerable amount of times, and they love her. She has also been privy to all my shortcomings, issues and trials, as my past confidante.

The church was paramount in the meeting of me and Mary, we don’t run in the same circles, we don’t have similar careers, if it was not for the church we would not have met. I will forever be thankful for the opportunity given to me by God for the chance to meet this wonderful woman, although it is still early days, the outlook is looking promising.
