Creativity is one of those things that gives meaning to existence.  Creativity is a form of expression which goes beyond words and helps someone be able to communicate to the rest of the world on a deeper level.

Children are naturally curious and creative creatures.  As life continues and they become adults, their creativity can begin to wither if it is not cultivated.  As a parent, it’s in your children’s best interest to keep this magic within them preserved.  Not only will they be happier overall, but it may help them with manifesting their futures.  Creativity helps people envision their biggest dreams.  Without creativity, no one could create the vision of buying their dream house or becoming the next president.   Since even the most serious of professions still requires independent thinking and creative problem-solving.

Here are some of the best ways that you can encourage creativity in your children, and have fun doing it.

Let Them Help You Around The House

Children are naturally inclined towards wanting to imitate their parents.  One of the biggest mistakes that parents can make is failing to encourage them to help out around the house.  When they are discouraged to help sweep or fold clothes or washing dishes, you are encouraging them to have disinterest in it at an older age.

Why not take the opportunity to let them explore their imaginations.  Helping you around the house can be a great role-playing activity which can activate their imaginations.  Pretending to clean alongside mommy and daddy can be a great way for them to play make-believe, while you simultaneously have the chance to get some work done.

    Encourage Playtime Alone

Although it may be a common misconception that children are being neglected if they play alone, this is actually an excellent opportunity for development.  Children who spend a lot of time alone in the privacy of their imaginations are able to reach far into their little minds and come up with some extraordinary ideas.

Creative playtime alone is healthy and teaches a child to be comfortable with themselves.  When a child is too dependent on others to have fun, this means they are lacking in imagination.

Try to encourage your child to play alone for at least 30 minutes a day.  This will help them to become more independent thinkers, and get in touch with their creativity.

    Family Crafts

A fun way to get the entire family involved is to organize a craft night.  Getting everyone together at the table and creating something together will encourage everyone to feed off of each other’s ideas, and enjoy each other’s company outside of your typical group activities like watching television or eating.
