How to Make Your Cat Get Along with Your Rise and Recline Chair

Pets make a home, and cats are ideal for people with mobility issues. After all, they don’t need to be taken for walks – all they want is to cuddle up on your lap. Of course, you should take some precautions when you buy a rise and recline chair. The cat can damage the chair, and the chair can seriously injure or even prove fatal to the cat.

Here are a few steps you need to take.

    Prevent Scratching

Rise and recline chairs are built to last, providing outstanding support for years at a time. Unfortunately, cats often like to scratch furniture to make their mark. Scratching can ruin the appearance of your new rise and recline chair, and stuffing can even be pulled out, which reduces support. Give your cat a sharp ‘no’ as soon as they attempt to scratch.

Don’t Let Them Play with Wires

Cats love to play with anything they can bat around. Any wires can look like wonderful new toys to a cat, and that includes your rise and recline chair’s power wire and the wire that connects the remote to the motor. It might seem fine to let your cat play with these, but they can eventually cause damage.

    Pick Leather

If you have a cat, a leather rise and recline chair will work out better than a fabric one. Leather is easier to clean, so any accidents will be easier to wipe up. More importantly, it doesn’t attract hair or develop unpleasant odours as easily.

    Check Where They Are

When your rise and recline chair finally arrives, make sure you know where your cat is every time you change its position. Cats like to get into tight spaces, and they can be crushed if you start the motor while they’re under your chair. This can be a horrible situation, so make sure you avoid it. If your cat likes to hide, try getting a box of treats you can shake whenever you need to adjust the chair – they’re sure to come running!
